Larisse Hall – Contemporary Artist
A full time contemporary artist, Larisse has work in private collections worldwide. Based from her home-studio in Nelson (New Zealand), whilst showing through galleries nationally, her work is a contemplation of life’s interactions and connections, exploring the essence and complexities of love, passion and relationship.
Larisse’s work has developed from textured realistic representation through to her current hand ‘sculpted’ textural pieces that ‘Breathe’. Shaping her supports and hand stretching her canvas has become an integral part of the painting process. Each piece is eagerly encouraged by hand, into its own existence, nurtured individually, allowing each to fully acquire its own personality. ’The shaped canvases are designed to work together, and ‘pulse’ - emanating the beat of a heart and a breath of fresh air.’ This primal expression of natural rhythms allows true interaction and connection between each piece. Thus, time, light, movement and experience all enhance and embellish the sensory response that Larisse’s work invokes.
Manipulating spatial elements and synergy of form through her shaped canvases, Larisse searches out balance and harmony within relationship. ‘Previously I have been solely occupied with harmony… … my focus is now shifting, finding the balance within non-balance, noticing distance and the push / pull that acts as balance and stabilization with in this’, allowing the existence and precariousness of non-balance to achieve the essential balance and synchronization of relationship.
