Larisse Hall – Contemporary Artist

Larisse (a Kiwi, originally from Manurewa, South Auckland) settled in sunny and creative Nelson, in 2001. Having had a successful career in the fashion industry (in design and pattern drafting), Larisse started painting professionally in 2007. In 2008, Larisse became a full time artist. Enjoying life with her husband and two young children, Larisse has become ever more conscious of the environment, often recycling ‘finds’ into works of art. Her work is a contemplation of interaction and connection, exploring life and the relationships that result.

With a textural approach and working in a multi – layered process, Larisse will often be working on at least 3 pieces, all at varying stages, at the one time. This allows each work to develop ‘a personality’ as Larisse alternates between mixed media and finishes with sumptuous oils. Completion is that point when ‘I know I have to stop’ and the work evolves into itself. Each piece inspires the next, continually enhancing and challenging the boundaries of her art.

Whether sketched or worked up texturally, her sensuous use of line and multi-layered application of media, have become Larisse’s signature style.

Larisse’s work is enjoyed in private collections nationally and internationally..
